Turkey today, tomorrow and the next day

November 24th, 2008

turkey-final All of us look forward to Thanksgiving every year.  Although many of us find the turkey tasteless, we love to eat the stuffing, cranberries and trimmings.

It never seems to come out even.   The turkey becomes leftovers for a long time.  We are all stuck with leftovers, so there is no point in inviting anyone over to dinner after Thanksgiving.

We all know what is on the menu:  Turkey, turkey, turkey.

When I couldn’t find a replacement pair of slippers for my wife in any local mainland store, or even a store on Oahu, I turned to Google to search for them. All I knew was that they were made by "Paradise Found" and I knew what they looked like. After looking at several hits, I learned that they were the "Typhoon" pattern, and Maui Shirts had the best price.

One other important bit of information I didn’t have was the correct size. So, I measured the old slippers, and then called Maui Shirts. A very friendly and helpful man with a radio announcer’s voice answered the phone and all of my questions about the slippers. He even got out a pair and measured them to make sure that they were the same as my measurements (which turned out to be size 10).

It just so happened that the slippers were on sale, but even their regular price with shipping to the mainland was less than full retail.

Mahalos to Maui Shirts for excellent service, excellent value, and for sharing a bit of true aloha!

Neon Orchid is a big hit on the Jimmy Kimmel Show

November 22nd, 2008

Mauiman:

neon-orchid You might recognize the Neon Orchid Shirt that I was wearing on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show this past summer.  As a matter of fact, you probably were watching the show and recognized the shirt but didn’t know who I was.  Because of "the shirt" and my wonderful personality, I was chosen to be on the show where I won a trip for two to Las Vegas.  It’s not a photograph, but it’s my story.  By the way, we don’t play golf, so I got the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau to, in lieu of golf, send me $$$$ to spend any way I chose.

And all because of "the shirt".  Watch the clip even if you can’t share it on your web site.   One of these days, I would like to visit you in person instead of buying your wonderful shirts on line.  I’ve never been to the islands, but I feel like I have when I wear one of my Maui Shirts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-PYNVJcnSE

No tourists, No sharks, No money. Welcome to Maui

November 16th, 2008

sharks The Maui Visitors Bureau reports that visitors are staying away this year because of the economy. That’s bad. However, even sharks are staying away from our beaches. That’s good. But how did the sharks find out about the economy?

A fun time was had by all at the annual Halloween Part at the Lahaina Yacht Club in Lahaina Town, Oct. 31, 2008. The first picture is of me. The second picture is Adrienne Workman (who would know?). Second row, right is Dave the Bartender and with his back to us is Willie the Bartender. The pic on the right, second row is a sampling of the ladies in attendance. Bottom picture is a sample of the party goers.  If only the burgees could talk.
